Meet the People Behind the Steel

Diana Orr

Office Manager

How would you describe the Niagara team in 3 words? “Supportive, dedicated, and cohesive.”

About Diana

Diana Orr is the Office Manager at Niagara Specialty Metals and has proudly been part of the team for nearly 15 years.

Why Ownership Culture Matters

Diana values the shared sense of responsibility that comes with employee ownership. Because everyone has a stake in the company, people show up each day motivated to see NSM succeed. She sees that mindset reflected in how teams collaborate and support one another across the organization.

What Customers Might Be Surprised By

Customers are often surprised to learn that Niagara doesn’t just stock metal—it custom processes material from start to finish based on the needs of each individual customer.

In the Plant

Diana’s favorite piece of equipment at NSM is the laser. She enjoys seeing how clean and precise the cuts are on tough specialty metals, which highlights both the technology and the capabilities of the team.

Diana would trade roles with one of the mill operators. She’s fascinated by the work they do turning specialty alloys into finished products and would enjoy seeing the process up close.

Outside of Work

Diana’s first job was as a cashier at PTC Foods in Baldwinsville, NY. Outside of work, she enjoys yoga, hiking, camping, pickleball, traveling to the beach, and spending time with friends, family, and her two dogs. She also loves watching her son play lacrosse and hockey as a goaltender at both the school and travel levels.

Advice for New Team Members

Take time to get to know everyone and be ready to be part of a team. At a small, 100% employee-owned company like NSM, everyone pitches in to support one another—and when one person succeeds, the entire team benefits.

Favorite Memory at Niagara

One of Diana’s favorite memories is the 30-year anniversary picnic at Akron Park, which took place not long after she started at NSM. With great weather, good food, and time together outside of work, it was a meaningful way to celebrate everything the team had accomplished.
