Meet Jeffrey Marshall
Meet the People Behind the Steel
Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
About Jeff
Jeffrey Marshall is the first Chief Financial Officer in the history of Niagara Specialty Metals and has been with the company for the past two and a half years, a role he says he is incredibly proud to hold.
Why Ownership Culture Matters
Jeff says the culture at Niagara is unlike anything he has experienced before. When every employee is a true owner, the buy-in is exceptional—and the benefits of doing the right things are shared. He sees that mindset reflected daily in a focus on quality products, strong relationships with customers and vendors, and safe, disciplined work across the plant.
What Customers Might Be Surprised By
Despite working with slabs of steel that weigh thousands of pounds, 1,000+ degree furnaces, and other potentially dangerous equipment, Niagara has an incredible safety record—over 3.5 years accident free!
In the Plant
Jeff enjoys watching both of Niagara’s mills. Seeing a slab of steel come out of the furnace red hot and then pass back and forth through the rollers is an impressive process.
Jeff would trade jobs with anyone who gets to drive a forklift around.
Outside of Work
Jeff’s first job was working as a cashier for a pharmacy. Outside of work, much of his time is spent on kid activities—especially hockey for his son. As a family, they enjoy skiing together and try to take an annual trip to Disney World.
Advice for New Team Members
Jeff has worked at organizations that promote their culture, but says nothing compares to having an ownership interest. He tries to prepare new people for it, but believes you have to experience it firsthand for it to truly make sense—and once you do, it’s hard to imagine working anywhere else.
Favorite Memory at Niagara
One of Jeff’s favorite memories is his first profit sharing meeting. Since every employee is an owner, Niagara holds a monthly meeting to review financial performance. Jeff ran his first meeting only a few weeks into the job— nerve-racking, but rewarding—especially being able to lead the discussion and answer questions from the team.
